Homemade Diaper Rash Cream

A good diaper rash cream is essential having toddlers and small kids. But which one should we choose among thousands on the market? The best answer is no-one, the best is your own Homemade Diaper Rash Cream! The main ingredient for this product is zinc oxide. Although Zinc Oxide sounds like a dangerous chemical stuff, it actually derives from the “zincite”, a naturally occurring mineral. It is a white powder that can be used not only as skin protection but also as white colorant and sunscreen.

As skin protection, zinc oxide paste is a MUST for moms. The kids’ skin is constantly in contact with diapers that can induce irritations and abrasions. If the skin is too sensitive or the diapers are not changed frequently, the baby’s skin will unavoidably suffer from these issues. Zinc oxide paste is used in this case. It helps to heal diaper rash and it forms a protective layer between the nappy and the skin.

What you will need for Homemade Diaper Rash Cream

The recipe is extremely simple and requires only two ingredients. In this way, you can be sure of the ingredients you are introducing without worrying about finding the meaning of misleading information or indecipherable ingredients.

For this recipe are required:

  1. 50 g of Zinc oxide (find it here)
  2. 50 g of olive oil

Alternatively to 50g olive oil, you can also mix two oils. For example, 30g of olive oil and 20 g of sweet almond oil or the ratio that you prefer.

Procedure

The procedure is easy and requires only a few minutes.

  1. weight 50g of Zinc oxide
  2. pour 20g of sweet almond oil
  3. add 30g of olive oil
  4. mix all the ingredients

Considerations

  1. If you prefer a more pasty consistency, just add more zinc oxide.
  2. It’s better to keep in mind that zinc oxide is insoluble and it will tend to deposit on the bottom of the jar. This will happen if it’s not used for a long time. In this case, just mix the mixture again and it will be ready to be used.

This recipe is the easiest one to heal diaper rash since it doesn’t require much effort and time. Just give it a try, I’m looking forward to knowing your feedback. 🙂

1 thought on “Homemade Diaper Rash Cream”

  1. I don’t have kids (yet!!!), but I would never have thought you could make your own diaper cream. I love how this is super simple with its ingredients. A lot of products out there have some crazy ingredients and when I have kids I feel as though I may become a psycho mom who makes everything. Unclear on that, but I love this idea!
