Avocado is an amazing fruit and its properties can be easily exploited not only for cooking but also for beauty treatments! However, when I was thinking about this post, I was not sure if Avocado was a fruit or a vegetable, due to its green colour. I found the confirmation on the website of University of California Agriculture & Natural Resource (here more info) that classifies Avocado as fruit.
Benefits of Avocado
Avocado is a great source of nutrients. It contains among all potassium, magnesium, omega-3 fatty, vitamins A, C, B6, E, phytosterols and a high amount of monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid, >50% same fatty acid present in the olive oil). This monounsaturated fatty acid are considered “good” for our health because prevents cardiovascular disease. Recent studies have showed how the consumption of avocados lowering the level of LDL (low density lipoprotein cholesterol) inducing potential health benefits (read more these articles 1–2)
Avocado can be exploited also in beauty treatments due to its excellent properties. Among all:
it is amazing as moisturising agent thanks to its high amount of monounsaturated fatty acid.
The nutrients, contained in Avocado fruits, can be easily absorbed by the skin nourishing it.
With all this benefits, I cannot leave avocados in the fridge!

Avocado oil is obtained by mechanical extraction from the flesh (seed and skin are removed). First, the pulp is reduced to a pasta and then, treated for 50-60 min at 45-50°C.
